It seems that Apple will silence one of the great fears from anyone with relief functionality that you can’t test normallyand it is that as we can read in TheVergecode has been found in iOS 16.1 Beta that would indicate that we will be able to test the satellite distress system without sending an emergency message.
This would be something similar to being able to prove that our calls to 112 really have a place to gobut obviously calling 112 (or equivalent) without a real emergency can even be illegal in some cases –although test numbers are usually provided for these assumptions— so testing these systems is not inherently bad.
Taking into account the peculiarities of satellite communication, Apple would be preparing a test mode that will allow us to use this system without actually sending a distress message, something interesting since we will have to learn to point to a satellite with which to communicate and others.
Already at the launch of the iPhone we understood that, in some latitudes and regions, this communication system would not be availableso before entering a dangerous area, it would be good to know that we can contact someone in an emergency.
