June 27. (EUROPA PRESS) –
At least four people have died and three have been injured, including two journalists, after a bomb exploded as their vehicle passed in the Somali district of Mataban, in the center of the African country.
According to information collected by the Somali news portal Goobjoog News, among the deceased there are two soldiers, while the injured journalists work for the television network of the HirShabelle region administration.
The vehicle hit in the attack was part of the convoy in which the governor of the Hiiraan region, Ali Jeyte Osman, was travelling, who had been uninjured. At the moment no group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
On the other hand, the security forces have launched this same Monday an operation against the terrorist group Al Shabaab in the surroundings of Mataban, without there being any information about victims for the moment.
Somalia is facing an increase in the number of attacks by the Islamist militia Al Shabaab, both in the capital, Mogadishu, and in other areas in the south of the country, which has led the new president, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, to promise that will focus its efforts on security during the first hundred days of its mandate.
