The change will take effect on December 1. A company spokesperson said the reason behind the change is to make the social network easier to use.
“As part of our efforts to make Facebook easier to navigate and use, we are removing a handful of fields from profiles: Interested In, Religion, Political Orientation, and Address,” the spokesperson said in a statement.
“We are sending notifications to people who filled out these fields, informing them that they will be removed. This change does not affect anyone’s ability to share this information about themselves elsewhere on Facebook.”
The change was first noticed by social media consultant Matt Navarra, who tweeted a screenshot of the notice that was sent to users who filled out these fields. The notice indicates that the other information of the users will remain in their profiles along with the rest of their basic and contact information.
