Wolfram company researchers offered the conference “Future Technologies”, in which they presented their new complement engine to ChatGPT, in addition to donating a series of books on this subject to the house of studies.
USM Communications.- “Future Technologies” is the title of the general talk that Wolfram company researchers gave at the Federico Santa María Technical University, in which they addressed different aspects related to the development of new language tools and search engines for artificial intelligence .
The exhibition organized by the General Directorate of Management Systems of the USM was attended by Roy Álvarez, director of International Development of Wolfram Research and Dr. José Martín García, senior research developer of the company, who explained the advances in language and mathematics that have contributed to the evolution of the different areas exploited by the international company, as well as their contribution to computational instruments such as ChatGPT, through scientific databases.
During the event, one of the main topics addressed by the experts were the possible applications of the Wolfram Language, its new computational engine that works as a connector for ChatGPT, allowing the popular artificial intelligence tool to solve questions associated with science or mathematics. .
“I can ask how many M&Ms fit on a Boeing 747 plane, a calculation that probably nobody cares about, but it shows perfectly what the Wolfram Alpha engine is capable of doing,” explains director Álvarez, who also points out that, by itself “ChatGPT looks for possible answers, but probably with a high percentage of errors.”
In the same way, the expert argues that the progress of this type of tools has been established due to the data provided by various databases and algorithms programmed by systems such as Wolfram. “All the curated and computable databases are present in WolframAlpha and the Wolfram Language, which allows it to be an optimal and accessible language,” says Álvarez, adding, regarding Alpha, “it is becoming a way to inject computation and data into it. validated to a language system such as ChatGPT”.

Another of the speakers during the talk was Dr. José Martín García, who has worked in areas of theoretical physics, such as gravitational collapse or the formation of holes, and who since 2010 has been directing the group of special projects on Wolfram, particularly in matters of geography and astronomy.
The expert covered different topics during the instance, such as positioning calculations, geolocation and time measurement and earth rotation through platforms such as Mathematica, a software developed by Wolfram specialized in data science.
The talk concluded with the donation of various books such as “A new kind of science”, “The mathematica book”, “Hands on start to Wolfram Alpha”, texts written and published by Stephen Wolfram, founder of the company that bears his last name, and which house the studies carried out by the scientist in relation to computer systems and their connection with the advancement of artificial intelligence, and also an edition of “Introduction to machine learning” by the physicist and code developer Etienne Bernard.
