Oct. 2 (Portaltic/EP) –

Epic Games has introduced a new developer program that offers a reduction in the royalty rate whenever games created with Unreal Engine are published in its store and additionally in others depending on the platform that supports the title.

The video game studio has updated the terms of its store and its graphics engine to help developers “reach a broader audience with friendlier terms”, an intention that is materialized in the ‘Launch Everywhere with Epic’ program, presented within the framework of Unreal Fest Seattle 2024.

This program will enter effective January 1, 2025, and those who qualify must use the Unreal Engine in their games and publish them on the Epic Games Store “before or at the same time” as on other platforms it supports, such as Windows PC, Mac and Android (and later also iOS). .

Developers will be able to access a rate of 3.5 percent instead of 5 percent for Unreal Engine games, which will apply “on all platforms and stores” where they offer their games.

However, They will lose this advantage if they offer the game in another PC or Android store and not in the Epic Games Store for the corresponding platform, as would happen, for example, if the game is compatible for Android mobiles and the developer has shared it in a different store specialized in this system and has not uploaded it to Epic Games.
