That is why the company is looking to grow its business verticals. A few years ago it launched Sky Alert Storm that during Hurricane Otis managed to launch an alert three hours before the formation of the meteorological event. But he also sees areas of opportunity in alerts about disputes or events that require decision-making.
“At a university here in the United States, very unfortunate events of shootings suddenly happen. So, the universities here have security centers that they could say launch an immediate alert: everyone, it reaches the cell phone, and protocols can be activated to make decisions and save lives,” Cantú shared.
Although the same SkyAlert executive pointed out that they cannot have all the ideas about this type of solutions, he shares that the help of a cloud service has been essential for its growth in the United States and in perfecting the alert in Mexico.
“We have 10 years of seismic information. A true asset of the company is this information that we already have stored, and by integrating artificial intelligence we will be able to prioritize our distribution lists. Having this information will allow us to prioritize based on risks, as we will even reach those who will need it most importantly sooner,” said the SkyAlert executive.
This means that if the area where you are experiencing an earthquake is at higher risk, the app may have the ability to notify you first than someone who is in a safer space and the alert will be prioritized towards the most vulnerable user.
For his part, Rubén Mugártegui, general director of Amazon Web Services (AWS) in Mexico, highlighted the support that Cloud provides to companies like SkyAlert. Well, in addition to storing data securely, the reduction in latency and scalability has allowed them to grow at their own pace.
“In serverless scalability, when the application code shakes, it automatically runs, executes only what is needed and shuts down. And that has around 60% savings of a traditional scheme. In these types of mission-critical cases, they are spectacular in terms of costs,” said the AWS leader.
SkyAlert offers customized packages for large corporations, including installing early warning devices in offices and factories. Companies such as Walmart and Coca-Cola in Mexico have adopted these solutions to protect both their employees and their operations and are beginning to work closely with government agencies, both in Mexico and the United States.
