Dollar in Colombia gains strength and heads towards $4,500

The dollar began the month of September with a slight rise that places it above 4,450 pesos. This Thursday the foreign currency, during the first hours of the day, registered an average price of $4,456.62.

This implies that it found 33.85 pesos above of the TRM of the day, which is $4,422.77.

At the close of the day, the dollar ended with a price average of $4,467.71. That is, 44.94 pesos above the TRM.

Along with it, the opening price was $4,450. On the other hand, the maximum trading value was $4,488.90 and the minimum was $4,436.40.

In the meantime, the euro was exchanged last Wednesday above parity with the dollar after the publication of data from the US labor market, although risk aversion and the increase in the yield of US Treasury bonds support the strength of the greenback.

The euro was trading at $1.0045 around 3pm GMT, versus $0.9993 in late European forex trading the previous day.

The spread of US sovereign debt yields and that of the euro area drives dollar purchases. The single currency was traded in a fluctuation band between $0.9972 and $1.0045.
