One of those applauded tools that Google recently launched is the surround to searchwhich debuted earlier this year originally on the Samsung Galaxy S24 series.

Since then, Google has implemented various improvements to “circle to search”, including sharing cut-out elements on the screen, searching for songs or supporting QR code scanning. Now Google is working on “surrounding to search” even be able to search videos.

There are different ways to search videos using Google, for example, you can ask the Gemini artificial intelligence to summarize YouTube videos, or even use Google Lens to ask questions about a video.

Now, as they have discovered in Android Authority“circle to search” will also be able to interact with the videos, although it is not very clear in what way and to what extent.

This could be both locally stored videos, as well as any you find on the Internet or on social media platforms such as YouTube.

However, as it is a feature that would require a lot of processing power to work, it could start working first in an initial testing phase, and on a specific platform like YouTube.

If it arrives in the future for everyone, searching for videos in “surround to search” could be a very attractive option.

At the moment this search tool is curiously not yet available on most devices.

So “circle to search” is now only present on selected devices, basically some Google or Samsung flagships.

Recent information seems to ensure that this will change soon, and that “surround to search” could reach absolutely all Android devices.
