China rejects the latest US sanctions against thirty companies for violating Human Rights

MADRID Jan 15 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Chinese authorities have rejected this Wednesday the latest sanctions imposed by the United States against 37 companies for violating the human rights of the Uyghur communities in the Xinjiang region, in the northwest of the country, and have rejected accusations of alleged “forced labor “.

The spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Guo Jiakun, has indicated that these types of measures are “nonsense” and has condemned the ban on the import of products manufactured by these companies, specialized in sectors such as textiles, mining or energy. solar.

“The United States is pushing lies related to Xinjiang and has included Chinese companies on the sanctions list. The objective of this is to interfere in China’s internal affairs, harm its interests and contain and suppress the country,” he said before ensuring that Beijing will take necessary measures to “safeguard its legitimate rights and interests.”

In this sense, he has clarified that these sanctions “are meaningless” despite the insistence of the Administration of the outgoing president, Joe Biden, which assures that these companies would be forcing the Uyghurs to perform forced labor. Among the affected companies is Huafu Fashion, one of the largest international textile manufacturers.
