China maintains that Taiwan is an inseparable part of its territory and opposes bullying in international relations

“By firmly upholding the one-China principle, China not only defends its sovereignty and territorial integritybut also safeguards peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait,” China’s Foreign Minister told the full UN General Assembly on Saturday.

In his participation in the high-level segment of the general debate of the highest deliberative body, Wang Yi asserted that Taiwan is an “inseparable” part of China and warned that his country will resolutely combat separatist actionsopposing “foreign interference.

“Any obstruction to China’s reunification will be crushed by the wheels of history,” he stressed.

The chancellor insisted that only when China is reunified can there be “true peace across the Taiwan Strait.”

Wang Yi devoted much of his speech to the theme of peace and respect among nations.

“How should we respond to the call of our times to build a common future for humanity? China’s response is clear: first of all, we must choose peace and oppose war,” he said, stressing that peace is crucial for the future of the world and guarantees the security of all countries and warning that turbulence and war open Pandora’s box.

“All who instigates wars in third countries can end up burned”, he emphasized, pronouncing himself to resolve all conflicts through dialogue.

The Chinese foreign minister added that his country supports all efforts aimed at peaceful resolution of the crisis in Ukraine and reiterated that for this it is essential to “address the legitimate concerns of all parties and build a balanced and sustainable security architecture.”

We call on all the actors involved to prevent the crisis from spreading and to protect the legitimate interests of developing countries”, he pointed out.

No country is above another

Wang Yi argued that in order to achieve and maintain peace, it is necessary to uphold equality and reject bullying. Mutual respect between countries, whether large or small, is part of the mandate of the UN Charterhe pointed.

He added that the great global problems must be managed by all countries and that international laws must unite all nations.

“No country is above another and no country should abuse its power to harass another sovereign country,” he stressed.

The Foreign Minister urged multilateralism and promoting the equality of all countries in terms of rights and opportunities to build a new form of international relations anchored in mutual respect, equity, justice and cooperation that benefits everyone.
