MADRID Jan. 14 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The leader of the military junta of Burkina Faso, Ibrahim Traoré, argued this Monday that the president of France, Emmanuel Macron, “insulted all Africans”, after he criticized the Sahel countries for not thanking Paris for their efforts. in the fight against terrorism in the region and added that he had proposed to the African heads of State to reorganize their military presence.
“There is a part that caught my attention: ingratitude. Ingratitude is a disease that is not transmitted between humans. To him, human, our ingratitude is not transmissible. This is how this man sees Africa, this is how he sees Africa. Africans. We are not human in their eyes,” he declared during a speech in the capital, Ouagadougou.
Traoré has pointed out that “the problem lies in the colonial defense agreements that have been signed since independence” and that “the most dangerous are the military advisors.” Thus, he has advocated “denouncing the military cooperation agreements” in order to “break with these imperialist forces” and achieve an Army that is “independent.”
In this sense, he has indicated that military advisors “are the ones who say how much to recruit, when to recruit and what to do with them, they say how to train them.” “As long as they are there, you are not independent. Your Army will simply appear to be doing parades and circuses, but when war comes you will realize that the parade is one thing but the war is another,” he warned.
Likewise, Traoré has denounced that Paris “chooses military trainees” from African countries to train them to serve the interests of the French State, which is why he considers that Macron, “if he is not an atheist and prays every morning “I should pray for Africans.” “Thanks to our ancestors, France exists today. In their eyes we should not be human, we are more than human,” he expressed.
However, he has acknowledged that it is not a total break with the French authorities, because “they will not abandon certain countries”, but rather a change in strategy: “You will no longer see them in the (military) bases, but you will see them in the embassies And they will create security companies (…) The soldiers will be there, but you will no longer see them in uniform or gathered in bases. They will be reorganized, but they will be there,” he assured.
On the other hand, he lamented that “they talk about democracy but they themselves deal constitutional blows to each other, they talk about Human Rights, but they are decimating populations in other places.” “Africans must wake up. Africa must wake up. And the fight against imperialism is permanent. And I invite you to join this fight, to work so that we are truly independent, that we are self-sufficient and that we can develop,” he concluded.
Last week, Chad’s transitional president, Mahamat Idriss Déby, expressed his “outrage at comments recently made by Macron, which border on contempt for Africa and Africans.” “I think he got the time wrong,” he reproached.
