Bruce Willis sings with his family in an emotional video that Demi Moore, his ex-wife, shared for his birthday

() — Demi Moore shared a moving message dedicated to Bruce Willis, her ex-husband, for the actor’s first birthday since he was diagnosed with dementia.

Moore and Willis were married from 1987 to 2000 and have three daughters together: Rumer, Scout and Tallulah.

The Hollywood actress shared a glimpse of the “Die Hard” actor’s 68th birthday celebrations with her followers on Sunday, posting an Instagram video showing Willis enjoying his day with Moore, his current wife Emma. Heming Willis, his daughters and other family members.

“Happy birthday, BW! Glad we got to celebrate you today,” Moore wrote in the message accompanying the video, in which Willis’s relatives sing “Happy Birthday” to the retired actor. “I love you and I love our family. Thank you all for the love and warm wishes, we are all sorry,” he added.

After joining in on the chant, the “Die Hard” star is seen blowing out the candles on his birthday cake.

Hours earlier, Heming Willis posted a message about what it takes to care for someone living with dementia, expressing that he felt pain and sadness. The couple married in 2009 and have two daughters, Mabel and Evelyn.

“Sometimes in our lives, we have to put on our big girl pants and do it, and that’s what I’m doing,” she said in the short video. “But I have moments of sadness every day, pain every day and I’m really feeling that today on his birthday.”

Last month, Willis’s family announced that his speech disorder, aphasia, had progressed to a form of dementia called frontotemporal dementia.

“Currently, there are no treatments for the disease, a reality that we hope may change in the coming years,” they said in a message shared online. “As Bruce’s condition progresses, we hope the media attention can be focused on shedding light on this disease that needs much more awareness and research.”

According to the Alzheimer’s Association, frontotemporal dementia refers to “a group of disorders caused by the progressive loss of nerve cells in the brain’s frontal lobes (the areas behind the forehead) or its temporal lobes.” These areas of the brain are generally associated with personality, behavior, and language.
