Britney Spears asks fans to respect her privacy after ‘prank phone calls’

() — Britney Spears asked her fans to respect her privacy after she said a series of “prank phone calls” led police to carry out a wellness check on the singer earlier this week.

The singer published this Thursday a note in Twitter in which he addressed the police visit, saying, “I love and adore my fans, but this time things went a little too far and my privacy was invaded.”

Spears went on to specify that the police “never entered” her home and that once they arrived, they “quickly realized there was no problem and left immediately.”

The singer lamented that the incident left her feeling “harassed and intimidated” and that “the media once again portrayed her poorly and unfairly.”

“During this time in my life, I truly hope that the public and my fans, whom I love so much, can respect my privacy in the future,” she wrote.

In an emailed statement to on Wednesday, Sgt. Jason Karol of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the department had “received some calls from concerned supporters” after Spears deleted her Instagram account.

It said the wellness check was completed “out of an abundance of caution” and “it was determined that she was safe and not in danger.”

In the past two years, Spears has been in the spotlight due to legal battles over her conservatorship, which was established in 2008 and was largely controlled by her father Jamie Spears until its dissolution in 2021, and the subsequent move in networks # freeBritney (free Britney).

Spears had used her Instagram platform as the main channel to communicate with her followers, but has taken breaks from social media in the past.
