Bodies of 20 migrants who died of thirst trying to cross the desert from Chad found in Libya

June 29. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Libyan authorities have confirmed this Wednesday the discovery of the bodies of 20 migrants who would have died of thirst near the border with Chad after the vehicle in which they were traveling suffered a breakdown in the Sahara desert.

The Kufra Ambulance and Emergency Service has indicated in a message on its Facebook social network account that “everyone died of thirst” and added that the vehicle was headed from Chad to Libya. The car has been located 310 kilometers south of Kufra.

Likewise, it has stressed that the bodies have been handed over to the competent authorities for their burial, without giving more details in this regard.

Libya has become in recent years one of the main crossing points for migrants arriving from sub-Saharan African countries on their way across the Mediterranean Sea to reach European shores.
