Blinken and the Italian Foreign Minister address the need to prevent an escalation in the Middle East

The Secretary of the United States Department of State, Antony Blinken, and his Italian counterpart, Antonio Tajani, addressed this Wednesday on the sidelines of the G7 meeting, which is currently chaired by Italy, the need to prevent an escalation in the Middle East after the recent Iran attacks on Israel.

In this sense, the two diplomatic heads have condemned the action, which occurred in response to an Israeli bombing against the Iranian Consulate in Damascus, according to a statement from the State Department.

Regarding the same region, they have discussed the need to send more humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, where civilians must be protected, and about operations to prevent further attacks by the Yemeni Houthi rebels in the Red Sea.

Finally, they talked about efforts to increase support for Ukraine in the war against Russia, after which Blinken thanked Tajani for his leadership at the head of the G7.
