Blink-182 postpones their Latin American tour after their drummer, Travis Barker, injured his finger

( ) — Bad news for fans of Blink-182 in Latin America. The punk group announced Wednesday that it had to postpone its tour of the region due to an injury to its drummer Travis Barker.

Tom DeLonge, co-founder and one of the band’s vocalists, was in charge of making the announcement through his Instagram account.

“I want to tell everyone in South America that we are very sorry that we cannot go. This is something we’ve wanted to do for so long and we’ve worked so hard. We had one of his freak accidents that no one imagined. Travis needs surgery on one of his fingers and we have to get it right, get him strong, before we can do anything else,” DeLonge said.

In 2015, DeLonge left the group. He, along with Mark Hoppus, created Blink-182 in the early 1990s. Barker joined years later.

In 2022 the band announced that DeLonge was returning to record an album (the guitarist’s first with the band in at least a decade) and that they would also embark on a world tour.

In October 2022 they released “Edging”the first single after DeLonge’s return.

The band is known worldwide for songs like “All The Small Things” and “What’s My Age Again?”, both from their album “Enema Of The State”, released in 1999.

Mexico was the first stop where they would visit Tijuana, followed by Peru, Argentina, Chile, Paraguay, Colombia, Brazil and ending back in Mexico.

“These were some of the most important places in the world for a band. This is the pinnacle of our career, to go and introduce ourselves to you. I want you to know that we are devastated and we are planning to return,” DeLongue said.

The singer said that all these dates will take place in 2024.

“I know it seems like they waited so long, which is true, and we’ve also waited so long (to introduce ourselves),” the vocalist added.

What happened to Travis Barker?

This Tuesday, Travis Barker posted on his Instagram account a series of photos and a video in which a person is seen manipulating his ring finger. The person asks the drummer if he feels pain when moving his finger, to which the musician says yes, it is painful.

In early February, Barker said on his Twitter account that he had suffered another injury: he dislocated and tore ligaments in a finger playing drums.

It is unclear what injury required Barker to undergo surgery.
