Authorities confirm another person dead after the collapse of a hotel in the Argentine city of Villa Gesell

( Spanish) – The Minister of Security of the Province of Buenos Aires, Javier Alonso, confirmed to the discovery of the body of María Rosa Stefanic, the 52-year-old former owner of the Dubrovnik hotel, among the rubble of the 10-story building located in Villa Gesell, in the Atlantic coast, about 370 kilometers from Buenos Aires, which collapsed on Tuesday. In statements to the press, the minister also stated that there are two other bodies closer to the sector where Stefanic was found.

So far there are six missing, two dead and one injured person who is in a reserved condition, as confirmed by authorities to .

Meanwhile, work continues at the site to remove the rubble and part of the slabs in order to avoid a new collapse that would jeopardize the rescue efforts.

The Municipality of Villa Gesell assured that more than 300 people are working, including security, health, firefighters and rescue teams from different parts of the Province of Buenos Aires.

Various restoration and modification tasks were being carried out at the hotel, which dates back to 1986. The Municipality said that on August 20, “through the Directorate of Private Buildings and Public Spaces it detected and paralyzed work that was being carried out inside the property, without having the proper municipal authorization” and so that they could move forward, They claim, they requested the presentation of formal documentation.
