June 15 () –
The Australian Government has assured that it will terminate the lease with Russia for the construction of its second Embassy, scheduled next to the country’s Parliament in Canberra, due to “security risks”.
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has stated that
The law will be approved by Parliament and the Senate on Wednesday morning, according to the television channel 9News.
“The Government has received very clear security advice about the risk posed by a new Russian presence so close to Parliament House. (…) To be clear, today’s decision is made in the interest of Australia’s national security “, Albanese said.
Russia, therefore, will continue to maintain its diplomatic presence in the country through its Embassy in Griffith, and not in Canberra, the Australian capital.
