Australia and New Zealand send planes to evacuate their citizens from New Caledonia

The governments of Australia and New Zealand announced this Tuesday that they have sent planes to evacuate their citizens from New Caledonia, a French territory located in the Pacific that is currently mired in protests and riots.

“Today we have received authorization for two assisted departure flights from the Australian Government for Australian and other tourists to leave New Caledonia,” he pointed on her X account the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Australia, Penny Wang.

New Zealand Foreign Minister Winston Peters also confirmed sending a plane to evacuate their compatriots. “New Zealanders in New Caledonia have faced a difficult few days and bringing them home has been an urgent priority for the Government,” Peters said.
