At least two dead and several injured in an attack on the Syrian capital attributed to Israel

Oct. 2 (EUROPA PRESS) –

At least two people have been killed and several more have been injured this Wednesday afternoon in a new attack attributed to the Israeli Army against a neighborhood in the Syrian capital, Damascus.

Several residents of the Al Suwaiqa neighborhood have reported that the target of the attack is a two-story apartment located in the Mezzé district, a bombardment that coincides with the ground offensive launched by Israel against southern Lebanon, which remains in march.

The two deceased would have perished due to a fire in the property, as indicated by these same sources, who have warned that the fire has caused collateral damage.

However, the Syrian Fire Brigade has confirmed that there are already troops on the ground trying to extinguish the flames, as reported by the Syrian radio station Sham FM.

Israeli authorities generally acknowledge having carried out attacks in Syria, arguing that they are acting to prevent the establishment of Iranian bases and the shipment of weapons to the Lebanese Shiite militia party Hezbollah by Tehran, which supports Syrian President Bashar al Assad in the framework of the war that broke out in 2011 after the violent repression of pro-democratic demonstrations within the framework of the ‘Arab Spring’.
