At least two people have died and nine have disappeared in South Korea due to super typhoon ‘Hinnamnor’, which made landfall in the early hours of Tuesday and has also left nine people missing.

The first of the two people killed is a 70-year-old woman who was swept away by a fast current on a road in Ocheon-eup, Pohang, in the southeast of the country, and was found dead about an hour later. , as reported by the Yonhap agency.

The second person to die during the storm is an 80-year-old woman in the city of Gyeongju found dead in her home after the pressure of water and sand collapsed part of her house.

Emergency services have announced that eight people are unaccounted for in underground parking lots in Pohang that have been flooded by heavy rains, the agency has learned.

Rescuers are carrying out an operation to empty the parking lot and find the missing.

Likewise, a 66-year-old woman also remains missing after entering the underground parking lot of another apartment building in Pohang.
