At least four dead and several missing in an ADF attack in eastern DRC

March 13 (EUROPA PRESS) –

At least four people have died and several have disappeared after an alleged attack by the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) in the city of Beni, located in the North Kivu region, in the east of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

The assault has resulted in the lives of three men and a woman. In addition, a baby has been seriously injured, for which he has been transferred to a hospital to receive medical treatment, according to what a local civil society leader has indicated to the Congolese portal ‘Actualite’.

The sources consulted by the aforementioned portal have indicated that there are currently numerous confrontations and that the inhabitants are trying to flee to protect themselves from possible reprisals.

The area, where Mai Mai rebels also operate, is a recurring scene of violent actions. In the case of the ADF – a group that the United Nations accuses of killing more than 1,200 civilians in a massacre in 2021 – it is an Islamist organization of Ugandan origin that in 2019 swore allegiance to the terrorist organization State Islamic in Central Africa (ISCA), to which he would continue to be linked to this day.
