Asus presents a 49-inch ultra-wide monitor designed to work with two video sources at the same time

Not everything at CES 2023 is a frenzy of Hz and RGB lighting. Asus’ catalog of novelties for this year also includes striking but practical proposals, and perhaps one of the most interesting is the ROG Strix XG49WCR, a monitor included in its gaming sub-brand, but equipped with an intelligent KVM switch that allows it to be used with two simultaneous video sources to improve your productive potential.

This 49-inch display makes use of a panel with 5120×1440 pixel resolution and 1800R curvature, which the manufacturer says is equivalent to having two 27-inch 1440p monitors side by side, but without the obvious bezel issues. The manufacturer does not indicate the display technology, but we know that the variable refresh rate supports up to 165 Hz and that it is DisplayHDR 400 certified. The color coverage of the sRGB space is 125%.

In addition to its 32:9 aspect ratio, the ROG Strix XG49WCR’s most notable point lies in its ability to support images from two independent sources without switching between the two or touching any buttons: simply connect a second computer to the monitor to split the screen in half automatically. It has for this an HDMI 2.0 connector, a DisplayPort 1.4 and a USB-C with 65 W. There is also an Ethernet port.

Asus hasn’t set a price or release date for this monitor, which is being showcased at the show alongside others like the ROG Swift PG32UQXR, an interesting 32-inch 160Hz 4K Mini LED display, and the ROG Swift OLED PG27AQDM. , equipped with a 27-inch WQHD organic panel, 240 Hz and a response time of 0.3 ms.
