Torres’ arrest occurred after the director general of the Federal Police, Andrei Rodrigues, pointed out “the various omissions, in theory intentional, practiced by those responsible for public security in the Federal District and that contributed to the practice of acts terrorists” of January 8.
Upon learning of the preventive detention order against him, Torres said on Twitter on Tuesday that he would interrupt his vacation and return to Brazil to appear before Justice.
Justice Minister Flavio Dino had given Torres until Monday to return, since otherwise he would start extradition proceedings.
