At the beginning of the month, the Ministry of Economy announced the bidding rules for a dozen development poles on the Isthmus of Tehuantepec, which separates the Pacific from the Atlantic Ocean.

The project is one of the flagship works of the president’s administration. It includes the construction of more than 300 kilometers of railways and the rehabilitation of ports on both oceans with a view to boosting development in the impoverished south of Mexico.

The federal government has opted for the Interoceanic Corridor of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec (CIIT) and the mayan train to develop the south of the country.

“What we are looking for is that they reach (the broker) investments that are sustainable, that offer decent and well-paid jobs. We are giving a banner for the next 30 years of Mexico,” said Raquel Buenrostro, head of the SE, on May 8.

“Mexico has all the potential to be a great economic power in the next 30 years,” he added, assuring that the Interoceanic Corridor “due to its strategic position, is a very important global communication center to all parts of the world.”
