In case anyone doubted it, Prime Video subscribers will continue to accompany Lucy, Ghoul and Maximus on their adventures through the wasteland. This means that Amazon has renewed the Fallout series for a second season, a move that will not surprise anyone if we take into account the good reviews with which the first batch of episodes were received on Prime Video. In addition, two weeks ago the series had a $25 million tax credit approved to move production from New York to California.

According to Amazon, in its first days Fallout has become a global audience success, ranking among the three most viewed titles on Prime Video, while the first season is the most viewed globally since The Rings of Power. The series premiered on April 10 in 240 countries and territories. “Jonah, Lisa, Geneva and Graham have captivated the world with a wild, groundbreaking series,” says Jennifer Salke, head of Amazon MGM Studios. “The bar was set very high for lovers of this iconic video game and so far it seems that we have exceeded their expectations, while attracting millions of new fans to the franchise.”

“We are thrilled to announce the second season after just one week to take viewers even further into the world of Fallout,” adds Salke. For his part, Todd Howard, executive producer of Bethesda Game Studios, has been delighted by the work that Jonathan Nolan and his team have done.

The premiere of Fallout's first season has also had a notable impact on the franchise's games. Last weekend, several releases led by Fallout 4 multiplied the number of simultaneous players on Steam, while the sale of titles has not been far behind. During last week Fallout 4 was the most shipped game in Europe, with sales that rose 7,500% compared to the previous week. The series along with the discounts in all digital stores were the catalysts to achieve this result. As a detail, 69% of Fallout 4 sales were on PC.

Not only Fallout 4 skyrocketed its sales thanks to the series. In the list of the 10 best-selling games last week in Europe, Fallout 76, Fallout New Vegas and Fallout 3 also appear in eighth, ninth and tenth place, respectively. In case anyone is worried, Grand Theft Auto V does not miss its appointment and is placed in fourth place.
