Amazon Prime Video brings Group Video to smart TVs and game consoles

June 30. (Portaltic/EP) –

The function ‘group video’ from Prime Video (also known as ‘Watch Party’), which allows you to enjoy movies and series with other users remotely and chat in real time, is now available on smart TVs, streaming devices and game consoles.

‘Group Video’ is a free option included in the Amazon Prime Video subscription service with which users can invite up to a hundred people to join the group viewing of content through an access link.

Until now, this feature was only available in desktop web browsers (except Microsoft Internet Explorer and Safari, from Apple), streaming devices for televisions developed by Amazon (FireTV) and the version of Amazon Prime Video for iOS and Android.

However, Amazon has begun to implement this option in all devices compatible with Amazon Prime Video, such as smart TVs, streaming devices such as Roku or game consoles such as Xbox and PlayStation, as verified TechCrunch.

You can access this option once you have chosen the movie or series you want view remotely with other users and choose ‘Group Video’. A window will then open prompting you to specify the name of the chat, followed by the ‘Create Group Video’ button.

Once the room has started, you can send the link to other users using a share link, and only the creator of that Group Video will be able to end the room chat. At the end of the group video, on the other hand, the rest of the users will be able to continue viewing the shared content.
