The first images of the Xbox Series X console without a disc reader are leaked

If Sony doesn't hurry, there won't be anything left to present. Practically the only thing we need to know about the new console PS5 Pro, is its design. Today we know new features.

The middle The Verge has had access to new internal documents from Sony with the full features of PS5 Pro, compared to PS5. It will be a console focused on ray tracing, AI upscaling, and 4K resolution at at least 60 Hz.

As these documents explain, the development kits They are in the hands of the developers, and Sony hopes to have the games ready in the summer, probably for the presentation. PS5 Pro will go on sale at the end of the year.

How does PS5 Pro improve on PS5?

Sony wants games improve especially with ray tracingand those with significant improvements will carry the seal PS5 Pro Enhanced.

Although the CPU is the same on both consoles, Sony is going to unlock a kind of CPU “Turbo mode” on PS5 Pro. The speed will increase by 10%, from 3.5 to 3.85 GHz for each core. In exchange, the GPU speed would drop by 1.5%.

This mode will be used in environments where the CPU has to work a lot, for example in large cities in Dragon Dogma 2which are giving the players so many problems.

PS5 Pro GPU is 45% faster than PS5. Along with higher memory bandwidth and a better architecture for this task, ray tracing will be three times faster than on PS5.

PS5 Pro also significantly improves memory bandwidth, which goes from 448 GB/s to 576 GB/s, 28% more. This will significantly increase performance.

Developers will also have access to 1.2 GB more memory. This is going to be important to implement PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR)Sony's alternative to NVIDIA's DLSS and FSR from AMD. This technology requires 250 MB of RAM.

According to the document, Sony has built its own upscaling architecture based on machine learning (AI) capable of maintaining HDR and reaching 300 TOPS of 8-bit computing, which means it is on par with DLSS.

Sony assures that Upscaling from 1080p to 4K adds about 2 milliseconds of latency, which is not significant. He is working on reducing the value, and rescaling up to 8K.

Everything indicates that PS5 Pro is going to offer a good graphical leap both in graphics and framerate, thanks to greater graphics power, bandwidth and PSSR. PlayStation VR 2 games will also benefit from this, as they will be able to eliminate reprojection in games that use it.
