AI is to blame for new restrictions on reading tweets, says Musk

Twitter vs. Elon Musk: the trial for the purchase of Twitter will begin in October

It is worth mentioning that companies such as OpenAI, developer of the popular ChatGPT, had a contract with Twitter to enter its API and consult publications that would train its AI system, a service for which they came to pay two million dollars a year; however, Musk closed access to OpenAI in December.

Although Musk has argued that this is a way to prevent data theft from his platform, the implementation of this new model also has to do with Twitter’s financial situation.

In January, the company launched its monetization model, Twitter Blue, for $8 a month, with which users could verify their account, among other new features. But in addition, in March it made a change to start charging for access and use of its API, whose lowest price was $42,000 per month, according to documents that were made public.

A temporary measure that is already beginning to affect

With the new limitations that Musk imposed, users with unverified accounts will be able to see only 600 posts a day, while new ones will only have access to 300. He then said that these limits would be extended and that it was a temporary decision, the damage It was already done.
