Against the Storm, one of last year’s most celebrated PC releases, is gearing up to expand its offering with an expansion called Keepers of the Stone, which will be available on September 26, publisher Hooded Horse has announced. Update 1.4 will be released on that same date, bringing new resources, a fishing system, an increased level cap, new buildings, balance tweaks, and more. The additional content hasn’t yet been priced, but a list of new features and a trailer have been released to preview them.

Against the Storm players who pick up Keepers of the Stone will continue their fight against the Tempest with a new species: Frogs, who join the fray “bringing their skill with stone and their love of water.” This species has its own settlements and is noted for its skill with stone masonry and ability to increase the rate at which new settlers join their communities. Frogs consider housing a special place, so they demand upgradable shelters. Theirs have four levels with significant changes in functionality.

The second major addition to the expansion is the new Coastal Grove biome, where settlements begin along the water and access to Royal Emissaries and the benefits they provide is limited. However, it does feature the Strider Harbor, a structure unique to this biome that allows expeditions to be sent out in search of hidden treasure in the surrounding waters. This is a new way to search for blueprints for new buildings. Each expedition requires a supply of food for the Strider and its rider, and the more supplies you invest, the more treasure you’ll find.

Keepers of the Stone’s feature list also includes new rewards for the Burning City upgrade tree aimed at benefiting the new species of Frogs, as well as three Legendary Key Items, one Epic Key Item, three Rare Perks, and five Uncommon Perks. Additionally, twelve new Orders are introduced that are tailored to Frog abilities and encourage the upgrading of their homes, while the soundtrack is expanded with fourteen tracks dedicated to the new Coastal Grove biome.

Developed by Eremite Games, Against the Storm is available for PC via Steam, GOG, and Epic Games Store, as well as PC Game Pass.
