The Spanish Video Game Association (AEVI) has launched the 7th edition of its grant programme to promote innovation in the development of video games in Spain, offering up to 10,000 euros to finance the most innovative project in game mechanics.
The objective of the program is boosting the local video game industry and provide opportunities to ideas which to date have not had the support to be put into practice. The call is aimed at both independent developers and employees or owners of video game development studios.
Is about the seventh edition of the innovation aid programme that AEVI has been promoting since 2017. In the last call, a total of 94 proposals were submitted, of which ten finalist projects were selected.
“Seven years ago we decided to help create innovative ideas, and now we are seeing the results. We are proud to be able to serve as a springboard for talent that needs the necessary financing to make their projects a reality,” said AEVI Vice President and Head of Development, Arturo Monedero, in a press release.
The deadline for submitting projects will be Open until August 30th at 11:59 p.m. and the finalists will be announced on September 13 through the Web and AEVI social networks.
A panel of experts will evaluate the projects in two stages. The first cut is based on the Product Sheet and any audiovisual material submitted, such as trailers or gameplay. The evaluation criteria will focus, in addition to innovation in game mechanics, on the production plan, visual and audio innovation, and accessibility.
Selected projects will receive a financial aid of up to 10,000 euros, which will be fully delivered before the end of 2024. Optional mentoring in areas such as Production and Marketing will also be offered to finalists and winners.
