The new entity will be chaired by Anthony Bartolo, a veteran of the technological world and with expertise in the expansion of global businesses, starting January 20. Additionally, in the new joint venture, Ericsson will own 50% of the stake, while telecommunications providers will own the remaining 50% in total.
“Shareholders of the new company will bring significant financing and assets, including Ericsson’s platform and networking expertise, relationships with global telecom operators, knowledge of the developer community and each telecom operator’s network APIs, experience and marketing ”says a press release.
Aduna aims to make new digital applications work anywhere and on any network, something that can even help developers innovate more easily.
The API model has been pushed since the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in 2023, where the proposal was made official that telecommunications operators open their infrastructure to facilitate new use cases in the digital environment to monetize fifth generation networks that are currently a challenge for connectivity companies worldwide.
“Providing developers with ubiquitous access to open, programmable network functionality through common APIs will enable them to innovate on a global scale and generate value for businesses, their customers and the telecommunications industry. These new and more advanced applications will create better customer experiences and open new sources of income,” said the CEO of Aduna, quoted in a press release.
Until now, modern mobile networks have advanced and intelligent capabilities, which developers historically have not had access to. Furthermore, it has been impractical for developers to integrate the different capabilities of hundreds of individual telecom operators.
