July 31 (Portaltic/EP) –
Activision has released data from the Call of Duty: Warzone video game Caldera map to support the research and education community and the training of artificial intelligence (AI) models.
Caldera is a map that arrived in Call of Duty: Warzone Pacific in 2021 with a paradise setting and 15 zones to explore and fight in. The development studio closed it in September of last year to focus on the future of the franchise.
Activision has now announced that it will make the map data available on GitHub in an open source, non-commercial format.
This dataset includes geometric data (4GB), anonymized and randomly selected examples of player movements, with character paths and timings, as detailed in its Official Blog.
With this decision, Activision intends to contribute to training by using this data for training AI models, demonstrations and other experiments. It also believes that it will be beneficial for the Call of Duty community, as it will help improve the gameplay experience and find new scenarios.
