Rival to a growing number of machines with relatively similar features, Acer’s laptop is looking to distance itself from its most direct rivals with a slightly more up-to-date spec sheet. For example, its IPS screen is 7 inches and Full HD, yes, but it works at 144 Hz instead of 120 Hz, and where others mount a Ryzen 7 4800U processor, Acer has put a Ryzen 7 8840HS, which is slightly more recent (it’s comparable to a Ryzen Z1 Extreme) and with an NPU, although the graphics are still Radeon 780M.
Other notable specifications include the use of 16 GB of LPDDR5x RAM, SSD storage of “up to 2 TB” expandable with microSD cards, Wi-Fi 6E connectivity, Bluetooth 5.3 and two USB4 ports. The battery is 50 Wh and leaves the weight at 670 grams.
As for the controls, Acer curiously doesn’t go into great detail, but we do know that the triggers use the Hall effect. We don’t know if they have any kind of adjustment. Unlike other Windows 11 handhelds, the Acer Nitro 7 doesn’t seem to feature an independent trackpad (as with the Zotac Zone) or lighting of any kind (ROG Ally X), which may be positive or negative depending on your tastes.
Acer has not yet provided a price or release date, but it has already set up an official website for the product.
