The Tunisian Ministry of Defense reported this Wednesday on the death of a soldier in the Remada delegation, located in the south of the country and near the border with Libya, where a patrol was carrying out its usual tasks when they were surprised by a series of shots whose origin has not been identified.
“Today at dawn, a military patrol operating in the Remada sector, and which was carrying out its usual tasks in the border security zone, was exposed to a sudden and unknown source of fire, which caused the death of a military patrol soldier,” the ministerial portfolio announced in a statement.
Following the incident, the Prosecutor’s Office of the Military Court of First Instance of the city of Sfax has opened an investigation into the matter.
