7 Jan. (EUROPA PRESS) –

A policeman has died and another one has been injured this Saturday in an attack perpetrated this Saturday in Bannu, in the Pakistani province of Khiber Pajtunjua, in the northwest of the country.

The presumed militiamen have thrown a hand grenade against a police van, as explained by a police spokesman, Wayid Jan, in statements to the newspaper ‘Dawn’.

The attack occurred near the Bannu Police station, where the agents were preparing an operation of which no details have been disclosed.

The Police have sent reinforcements to the area and have started an operation to try to “hunt down the attackers”, who fled after the attack. The injured policeman has been hospitalized.

Bannu has been the target of several attacks by the Tehrik e Taliban Pakistan (TTP) group, the Pakistani Taliban. On December 8, a checkpoint was attacked and a policeman died. On December 18, militants held at a Bannu detention center revolted and seized control of the compound.

This same Saturday the authorities of the Pakistani region of Punjab have reported the arrest of five suspected terrorists in 21 operations. Among them were members of TTP.
