A man detained at a London airport while transporting uranium

LONDON, 15 Jan. () –

An individual has been arrested at London’s Heathrow International Airport after traces of uranium were detected in his luggage, British Police have reported.

The Border Police found radioactive material inside a shipment of scrap on December 29, it came from Pakistan and would have Iranian citizens residing in the United Kingdom as recipients, as reported by the newspaper ‘The Sun’.

Cheshire Police have arrested an individual in his 60s this Saturday under the protection of the Terrorism Act and will be in custody until April.

“I want to be clear. Although this arrest has been made and based on what we know so far, this incident does not appear to be related to any kind of danger to the population,” explained the head of Scotland Yard’s Anti-Terrorism Command, Richard Smith. . “However, detectives are still investigating to ensure that this is definitely the case,” he added.
