A court endorses the publication of the audio in which an 8M civil guard confesses the illegal methods of his unit

New setback for civil guards investigated for using illegal methods in an investigation of alleged drug traffickers. The complaint filed by one of his bosses against the woman who recorded him confessing illegalities and also against the first media outlet that published the recording has been dismissed by the Provincial Court of Madrid. The judges of the second instance warn in their resolution that the dissemination of the audio was a way of “denouncing” the violation of the fundamental rights of those investigated by the civil guards and not, as the brigade who filed the complaint claims, a form of cover-up.

In a different case, a Madrid court has six agents from the Economic Crimes Team of the Madrid Command under investigation for a crime of revealing secrets related to the placement of illegal monitoring devices on a person investigated in the National Court for drug trafficking.
