4 Apr. (EUROPE PRESS) –
Tunisian President Kais Saied has tried to quell rumors of a power vacuum during a meeting with the country’s Prime Minister Najla Bouden by posting the first appearance in several weeks via video of his cabinet.
In recent days, speculation has arisen in the country in relation to a supposed illness of the head of state, after which there have been calls for the declaration of vacancy of the leadership or even the seizure of power by the Army.
Saied wanted to put an end to these rumors by meeting among others with Bouden and the Foreign Minister, arguing that those who demanded the declaration of the vacancy are those who suffer a serious vacancy in their heads.
“What hurts is the lack of a minimum level of rationality among some, and we have almost reached a degree of madness that we did not know before in Tunisia,” he declared in a video published by the Presidency, collected by the TAP news agency. .
As for the request for a seizure of power by the military, the president has assured that these are very serious events, since they are trying to “create one crisis after another.” “The violation of civil peace is unacceptable,” he added.
He has also assured that those who spread these rumors will “pay” since “it is not about leaving such misdeeds unpunished” and because “there is a state and a law”.
