MADRID Jan. 6 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The US Government announced this Monday the imposition of sanctions against the Chinese computer security company Integrity Tech Group, which it links to the Government of Beijing and blames for carrying out multiple incursions against the country.
The Treasury Department specifically accuses the company of providing support to the hacking group Flax Typhoon, a “Chinese government-sponsored” organization that, since 2021, has compromised computer networks in North America, Europe, Africa and Asia, ” with particular emphasis on Taiwan.”
“Between summer 2022 and fall 2023, Flax Typhoon actors used infrastructure linked to Integrity Tech during their computer network exploitation activities against multiple victims. During that time, Flax Typhoon routinely sent and received information from the Integrity Tech infrastructure,” points out the US Treasury.
The sanctions imply the freezing of assets in the United States of any person linked to the Chinese company and the threat to international companies not to maintain economic ties with it.
The announcement of these sanctions takes place after the United States Treasury Department reported that, on December 8, it was the victim of a “major cybersecurity incident” attributed to hackers allegedly linked to the Government of China, an accusation from which the Asian giant has distanced itself.
The North American Treasury reported this incident in a letter sent to Congress and in which it explains that it became aware of it when an external software service provider, BeyondTrust, notified it that a third party had obtained the key to access certain information. according to the text collected by the Bloomberg agency.
