Oct. 11 (Portaltic/EP) –
78 percent of Spaniards spend more than four hours a day in front of a screen and the vast majority, the 80 percent, He does it with a ‘smartphone’, a device that surpasses other devices such as tablets and computers in use.
This is one of the results of a recent study carried out by TCL, which is titled ‘The visual health of Spaniards: Realities and challenges of the digital era’in which he points out how eye care is valued, and which he presented this Friday.
The technology company has indicated that, in recent years, well-being has become one of society’s main concerns and that, despite this, areas such as visual health “they still don’t get the attention they deserve.”
One of the reasons is that there is still a strong lack of knowledge regarding eye protection, to the point that only 16 percent of Spaniards know of the existence of technologies that take care of their eyes, according to this report.
Although it is still a very small percentage, TCL has indicated that “it is striking” that up to 92 percent of those surveyed say that they would bet on these alternative technologies if they knew about them and that only two out of ten Spaniards pay attention to the type of screen they use to check that it offers some visual protection.
In this sense, he recalled that high exposure to screens has become “an everyday reality” for the majority of Spaniards and that 78 percent of Spaniards spend more than four hours a day in front of them. Only 2 percent do it for less than an hour.
In his responses, the 46 percent of those surveyed admit that they spend that time in front of them for workwhile the 42 percent acknowledge that he does for leisure. Likewise, 80 percent indicate that the smartphone is the device they use the most, compared to the laptop (60%) and the desktop computer (50%).
PARENTAL CONTROLS AND KNOWLEDGE ABOUT LIGHT
The use of screens and mobile devices has skyrocketed in childhood and adolescence, which has become a cause of concern and debate within Spanish families. Thus, 76 percent of fathers and mothers declare that they limit the time their children spend in front of screens, although 40 percent consider this control “especially important” between the ages of 2 and 5.
TCL has also confirmed based on this report that this concern decreases as children grow, so that it is reduced to 18 percent when it comes to adolescents between the ages of 13 and 15.
Although adults prefer to encourage other non-digital leisure activities, the company is aware that it is not always possible and that 33 percent of parents consider that their children they spend too much time online.
On the other hand, the technology company has stressed that many Spaniards already take measures to protect their vision in their daily lives. For example, 57 percent try to maintain an adequate distance from the screen, the same percentage of people who adjust the lighting in the environment to promote their eye health. 46 percent of those questioned, on the other hand, choose control the time they are exposed to a screen.
It is true that these are some of the practices recommended by specialists, although TCL also claims the need to pay attention to the type of technologies used and opt for those that incorporate specific functionalities to promote visual comfort.
TCL NXTPAPER 3.0
TCL has recalled that it works on technologies that promote visual comfort and vision care. This has been demonstrated with the approach of TCL Nxtpapera technology that manages to recreate the visual experience of reading on paper, while at the same time reduces harmful blue light emission by up to 61 percent.
The firm has recently launched new devices on the market that incorporate this technology, among which are smartphones. TCL 50 Nxtpaper 5G and TCL 50 Pro Nxtpaper 5G, as well as the TCL tablet Nxtpaper 14.
The 3.0 iteration of the technology includes functionalities powered by Artificial Intelligence (AI). Likewise, the devices include a dedicated key, Nxtpaper Key, which allows you to change the interface depending on the user’s needs, whether to activate E-Ink Mode, Standard Mode or Color Mode.
TCL Nxtpaper 3.0 also comes with the Circular Polarized (CPL) filter, which reproduces the path of natural light -emission, reflection and retraction- or the DC Dimming technology, which eliminates image flicker.
Another of the peculiarities of this version is that it presents a Vision Care Assistant built-in, one-click toggle that helps users develop healthier digital viewing habits.
