7 old Windows features that you can still find in Windows 11

You already know that Windows 11 is the latest version of the popular OS for PC from Microsoft and that provides certain advances with respect to its predecessors, being more modern, agile and easy to use, or at least that is what has been claimed.

Within all that modernity, you can still find certain parts of the operating system that carry established from previous generationsThey have been there for decades.

Look if some of these faculties are old, they have been the same since the late 80s, so they have been with us for so long that perhaps they have gone unnoticed.

Symbol of the system

Command Prompt, or cmd.exe, is a command line tool that was introduced by first time more than 35 years ago, back in 1987although it would arrive as an internal component with the version of Windows NT that was presented in 1993.

It may be that in terms of design it has changed over the years, but essentially still the same tool that we have always had.

There are very powerful third-party applications that do the same and with many more options than Disk Manager, so it is shocking that Microsoft has not improved the look and functionality of this essential tool in Windows 11.

Disk Cleanup

The system cleaning tool is a very important part, since from it we can manage and clean temporary files, optimization files, thumbnails and other debris.

Disk cleanup (cleanmgr.exe) first appeared in Windows 98. But the version that came with xp is the one we still see today. It included a few extra options back then, but essentially it’s still the same.

Leaving this type of legacy utility in Windows 11 seems to go against the drive toward uniformity in the operating system. Especially when the Settings have been completely replaced.

File Browser

We agree that File Explorer windows 11 was simplified and that the tabs ended up being addedbut for the rest, we still have the old style.

Over the years, little has changed in the essence of File Explorer, having to continue to settle for something that Microsoft could have remodeled, since it is one of the tools that any type of user uses the most.

As you have been able to read, there are many parts of Windows 11 that have been in the system for many years and with hardly any changes. Something that shocks, since there have been many opportunities to give them a “face lift” and thus improve their functionality.
